We’re working to resolve the refund and reimbursement claims submitted following the recent labour disruption, and we’re committed to making this right.

For any upcoming travel, rest assured that Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge flights are operating as scheduled. Air Canada has started arbitration with flight attendants represented by CUPE, and there will be no strike or lockout. You can plan, book and travel with full confidence.

Out-of-town expenses

Recognizing the diverse challenges our customers have faced during this disruption, we are approaching each situation with flexibility and care.

If you were a customer on an Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge flight scheduled between August 15, 2025, and August 23, 2025, your flight was cancelled, and you were unable to return home, you can submit your reasonable expenses, such as overnight accommodations and meals, for reimbursement.

This is in addition to reimbursing other reasonable transportation costs under our flexible rebooking policy if we were unable to rebook you.

All claims should be submitted on our Reimbursement Assistance – Labour Disruption page, and be supported by receipts and a brief explanation.

If you booked your own alternative transportation, we have made an exception to our standard policy so that you are eligible for reimbursement of a reasonable fare on another airline if:

Speeding up the claims process

  • Refunds may be reviewed and processed separately from reimbursement claims for expenses such as accommodations, meals, and tickets booked on other airlines/alternative transportation.
  • If we notice something missing from your submission, you can expect to hear from us.

Frequently Asked Questions

If your Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge flight was cancelled between August 15, 2025, and August 23, 2025, you can request a refund for the unused portion of your ticket. You also have the option to hold the value as a Future Travel Credit. To request a refund, please use our self-service tools to manage your booking. If you’re a travel agent, please use Air Canada Vacations’ agent portal  self-service tools to manage your client’s booking.

Yes. Refunds will be processed to the original form of payment, provided the request meets Air Canada Vacations’ criteria for cancellations during the labour disruption period.

For your claim to be considered for reimbursement, please include:

  • All relevant receipts for expenses such as accommodations, meals, or alternate transport
  • Booking confirmations
  • A brief explanation of your situation
  • Any correspondence or documentation related to your disrupted travel

The current volume of reimbursement requests is very high, but we’re committed to resolving every claim quickly and accurately. Refunds will be processed within 30 calendar days, and provided that all required documentation is received, reimbursement requests will be processed within four to six weeks from the date you submitted.

Your patience is greatly appreciated as we work through these claims. Please be assured we are working quickly and diligently to resolve every claim.

We are supporting our customers who were disrupted while away from home with reasonable overnight expenses, such as hotels and meals. If you booked your own alternative transportation, you may be eligible exceptionally, due to the significant impact of the labour disruption, to reimbursement of a reasonable fare on another airline within 5 days of your original departure date. No – if you did not end up travelling, you will not earn any Aeroplan points or Status Qualifying Miles, Segments or Dollars.
